Painting 3 of a triptych.

This richly layered acrylic painting is created on a sturdy wood panel and finished with three coats of gloss medium to bring out the depth of colour and texture. It’s presented in a hand-sanded meranti float frame, waxed to a soft sheen that complements the work without overpowering it. The final surface is gently taken back with beeswax to a beautiful satin finish that catches the light just right.

Wired and ready to hang straight out of the box.

  • I paint in acrylic on a wood cradled panel

  • framed in meranti for a finished size of approximately 2 cm all round, larger than the panel size.

  • d rings and wire are attached to the back

  • The piece is ready to hang

  • The painting is finished with 3 coats of gloss medium

  • When the gloss is dry, the surface is waxed to produce a soft satin finish.

  • The float frame is hand-constructed,

  • hand-sanded and

  • then waxed.

  • Meranti is a pinkish hardwood

  • The style and colour frame perfectly the work

  • A float frame is a simple and contemporary look which enhances a work without overwhelming it

Palm Garden

I often work in series, painting at least three pieces at once. Palm Garden was painted as part of a triptych. All three panels were hung on the studio wall and I painted them as one large piece. This helps me paint with a sense of freedom, making a large frieze format work.

Drawing plays a huge role in my practice. For the past 5 years, I have taken part in The 100 Day Project on Instagram. I have chosen to draw each year. In 2025 I only drew the palm trees and giant strelizia in my front yard, keeping to a 5 metre area. I have found limitations really beneficial in my practice. Limiting oneself in terms of materials, subjects, format, or location can generate creativity, as in my case, a need to really look and come up with 100 compositions in a limited area and with a restricted subject matter.
