This piece was developed following my series for Feast, an exhibition at Stevens Street Gallery in Yandina at the end of 2025. I have worked from an aerial perspective intermittently for many years, an approach to still life I was introduced to by my tutor, Jackie Shelton, at university. I have explored this perspective in my Simple Gifts series, creating work using this style since the late 1980s

I remember french onion sellers on bicycles. Which noiw seems so bizarre I wonder if it is a false memory. My daughter dressed as one for a primary school book weeks costume, the easiest costume. This painting was an edited of a previous onion painting, the blue and white stripes plus a reference to the tricoleur are new additions.
