This piece was developed following my series for Feast, an exhibition at Stevens Street Gallery in Yandina at the end of 2025. I have worked from an aerial perspective intermittently for many years, an approach to still life I was introduced to by my tutor, Jackie Shelton, at university. I have explored this perspective in my Simple Gifts series, creating work using this style since the late 1980s.

My Favourite Things is an ongoing series of pieces about my favourite things. I had started to write statements about these small paintings and soon realised I was repeating myself, saying, “ I love..” or “ these are my favourite…”. I loved Mary Poppins as a child, and “ My Favourite Things’ was sung on repeat. I love limes; they still seem super exotic. The taste of fresh lime is the perfect addition to a salad or a cocktail, and I love painting them.
