June Still Life Pottsville and Pomegranates
A large still life painted from life in my garden studio.
Painted in acrylic on 3mm ply. The ply is then panelled and custom-framed in a meranti hardwood, float-style frame
The painting is finished with 3 coats of glass medium, which is then sealed for a soft satin finish.
Finishing the piece in this way reveals the vibrant colours and multiple layers of texture and pattern.
In 2026, I am making an A1 still life painting each month. My June painting features flowers from a native bouquet and banksia I picked at Pottsville on the far north coast of NSW. The pomegranates were a bargain buy at my local fruit shop. At $5 a bucket I couldn’t resist them.
