This piece was developed following my series for Feast, an exhibition at Stevens Street Gallery in Yandina at the end of 2025. I have worked from an aerial perspective intermittently for many years, an approach to still life I was introduced to by my tutor, Jackie Shelton, at university. I have explored this perspective in my Simple Gifts series, creating work using this style since the 1980s

My Grandad was originally from Kent and would sometimes joke about cockney rhyming slang. Apples and Pears are the stairs.
