Created during and after my artist residency at The Acres, these floral triptychs celebrate both memory and observation. Over six months, I filled sketchbooks with weekly ink drawings, using crayon marks to note colour from life. Back in the studio, these sketches became the foundation for a series of vibrant floral paintings. While each panel works as a standalone piece, the triptychs were conceived as an intimate three-part series, each centred around a flower with personal significance.
George and the Delphiniums III is one panel from a triptych painted during my residency at The Acres. My father grew delphiniums every summer, often against his greenhouse, and I have fond memories of their blue and violet blooms in floral arrangements at our local church. Seeing rows of delphiniums at The Acres was a delightful surprise, as I had assumed Queensland was too hot for them. This panel is available individually or as part of the triptych set of three, each panel capturing a unique floral perspective while reflecting personal and family connections.
