Acrylic on wood panel, 60 × 60 x 4 cm
Framed size: 62 × 62 x 7 cm

This richly layered acrylic painting is created on a sturdy handcrafted wood panel and finished with three coats of gloss medium to bring out the depth of colour and texture. It’s presented in a hand-sanded pine float frame, waxed to a soft sheen that complements the work without overpowering it. The final surface is gently taken back with beeswax to a beautiful satin finish that catches the light just right.

Wired and ready to hang straight out of the box.

Created during and after my artist residency at The Acres, these floral triptychs celebrate both memory and observation. Over six months, I filled sketchbooks with weekly ink drawings, using crayon marks to note colour from life. Back in the studio, these sketches became the foundation for a series of vibrant floral paintings. While each panel works as a standalone piece, the triptychs were conceived as an intimate three-part series, each centred around a flower with personal significance.

Zinnias is one panel from a triptych created during my residency at The Acres. Inspired by the summer flower paddocks, the zinnias flourished despite heat and rain, with colours so vivid they almost seemed unreal. Covered in bees and insects, they symbolise the vibrancy and resilience of summer. This series reflects my personal connections to flowers: delphiniums my father grew, zinnias from my parents’ garden, and roses treasured by my family. The mulched beds provide textural contrast to the lively blooms. Each panel works alone or as part of the triptych series.
