What is a cradled panel?

A cradled panel is a sturdy wooden painting surface with a supportive frame (or “cradle”) on the back. It resists warping and provides a smooth surface for painting. My works on cradled panels have finished sides, so they can be displayed beautifully with or without an external frame. My cradled panels are made from 3mm ply for the painting surface and pine lengths for the cradle.

Do your artworks come framed?

Yes ! the majority of my pieces are presented in handcrafted float frames made by my husband, David. He uses meranti, a durable hardwood, to build each frame with care. I then hand-sand and wax the wood to create a soft, contemporary finish that complements the artwork.

What is a float frame?

A float frame is a contemporary style of framing that allows the artwork to “float” inside the frame with a slight gap around the edges. This style enhances the piece without overpowering it, giving it a clean, gallery-quality look.

How are the frames finished?

Each frame is hand sanded and waxed, bringing out the natural beauty of the meranti hardwood while keeping the finish subtle and timeless. The result is a frame that feels warm, elegant, and tailored to the artwork.

Are the artworks ready to hang?

Yes! Every framed piece is fitted with D-rings and professional hanging wire on the back, so it’s ready to go straight onto your wall.

Can I hang a cradled panel without a frame?

Definitely! Cradled panels are finished on the edges and can be hung unframed for a sleek, modern look. Whether you choose framed or unframed, your piece will arrive ready to hang.
