Frequently Asked Questions – Commissions

Thinking about commissioning an artwork? Here are answers to the most common questions. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, please reach out, I love talking about new projects!

What can I commission?

I accept commissions for original paintings on board or canvas, typically still life, botanical, and landscape-inspired works. Each piece is unique and created specifically for you.

Can I commission a canvas?

Yes! Canvas is ideal if you’re overseas, interstate, or want a very large piece. Canvas commissions will be shipped rolled in a tube, and you’ll be responsible for stretching and framing. Local framers can assist with this.

How do I start a commission?

Get in touch via my Commissions page or contact form. We’ll discuss your ideas, the subject, size, style, and timeline, so I can provide a clear quote before we begin.

Can I choose the size and format?

Absolutely! I work on a range of cradled panel sizes or canvas dimensions. Panels are finished on all sides and can be hung unframed or in a handcrafted float frame.

How long does a commission take?

Timing depends on size and complexity. Typically, a commission can take 4–12 weeks, including preparation, painting, finishing, and shipping. I’ll give you an estimated timeframe before we start.

Can I see progress during the painting?

Yes! I can provide photos or updates so you feel involved as your artwork develops.

What if I want changes or adjustments?

Minor adjustments are possible during the painting process, but the aim is to capture the vision we agree on from the start.

How are commissions priced?

Pricing depends on size, complexity, and materials. I provide a transparent quote before any work begins.

Do you ship commissions?

Yes, all works are carefully packaged, tracked, and insured for domestic or international delivery. Canvas pieces are shipped rolled in a tube; panels are packaged for safe delivery.

Can commissions be framed?

Yes! Cradled panel works can be framed in handcrafted meranti hardwood float frames, sanded and waxed to complement the artwork. Each frame comes with D-rings and hanging wire, ready to display. Canvas commissions require separate framing after delivery.

How do I pay for a commission?

A deposit secures your commission, with the remainder due before shipping. Payment instructions are provided when we start.
