Plam Garden I is the first panel of a triptych. I work in series and often paint up to 3 panels at a time. The panels were hung on a wall, and I painted Palm Garden I, II and III as one large work. Each painting works just as well as an individual piece or makes a stunning statement as a triptych. I adore palm trees and find them endlessly fascinating. Each year for the past 5 years, I have taken part in an online 100-day project. Each year, I draw for 100 days. In 2025, I drew the palm trees in our garden. By limiting my subject matter to a small section of the garden, I had to work hard on compositions but found something new for each of the 100 drawings.
I first visited Bermuda in the final term of my degree and was captivated by the palm trees. When I moved to the island, I worked on a series of palm etchings recording some of the 86 species of palm the island hosted.
